CC rejects submission of constitutionality of Shkarlet's appointment as Minister of Education – Sovhyria
KYIV. Aug 31 (Interfax-Ukraine) –The Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CC) refused to open proceedings on the constitutional proposal of 46 MPs regarding the constitutionality of the Verkhovna Rada’s resolution on the appointment of Serhiy Shkarlet as Minister of Education and Science, MP of the Servant of the People faction Olha Sovhyria said.
"The decision is final," Sovhyria wrote in her Telegram channel on Tuesday.
As reported, 46 MPs from the Holos and the European Solidarity factions, as well as several non-factional majority members, submitted to the Constitutional Court a proposal to cancel the Verkhovna Rada’s decision to appoint Serhiy Shkarlet Minister of Education and Science due to non-personal voting by MPs, it was registered on March 5. Before that, the Prosecutor General’s Office at the request of the Holos party, opened a criminal case on " button pushing" during the voting for Shkarlet’s candidacy for the post of minister.
The Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhiy Shkarlet Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine on December 17, 2020.
