Cargo transportation along Dnipro River grows by 35% in Jan-Oct – USPA
KYIV. Nov 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Cargo transportation along the Dnipro River in January-October 2021 increased by 35% (by 3.01 million tonnes) compared to the same period in 2020, to 11.62 million tonnes.
According to a report of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), with reference to the data of the River Information Service of the Delta-Pilot branch, during January-September, 13,342 voyages were carried out versus 9,160 voyages in the same period in 2020 (an increase of 45.65%).
The main share of cargo transported along the river is construction one, the volume of transportation of which increased by 84.4% and reached 7.93 million tonnes.
Grain cargo is in the second place. The volume of its transportation decreased by 6.6% compared to the last year and amounted to 2.57 million tonnes.
In addition, metal products were actively transported along the river, however, over ten months of 2021, the volume of metal transportation reached only 1.08 million tonnes, which is 27.8% less than in the same period in 2020.
