Cabinet approves IDPs Strategy
KYIV. Oct 28 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Strategy for the Integration of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and a plan for the implementation of medium-term solutions on internal displacement for the period until 2024.
According to the press service of the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, the key goal of the Strategy is to create conditions for the integration of IDPs in the host territorial communities.
The document provides for measures aimed at removing obstacles for displaced persons in the exercise of their fundamental rights, in particular full access to administrative, social and other services, as well as on creating conditions for the development of the potential of displaced persons in their new place of residence.
It is noted that the operational plan for the implementation of the Strategy provides that the provision of preferential mortgage loans in cooperation with the German government until the end of 2022 will provide housing for at least 680 families.
Also, thanks to the filling of the housing funds for temporary residence due to the annual increase in subventions from the state budget until the end of 2024, at least 3,000 more displaced persons will be provided with housing.
In addition, it is planned to build 500 and purchase 60 apartments in cooperation with the German government in Severodonetsk and Kramatorsk by 2025, which will provide housing for about 1,500 more people. And the construction of 500 apartments in cooperation with the Turkish government in Kyiv, Mykolaiv by the end of 2024 will provide housing for about 1,300 more people.
