Cabinet adopts resolution on work of Presidential Fund for Education, Science, Sports
KYIV. Sept 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine during its meeting on Wednesday adopted a resolution allowing the Presidential Fund for Education, Science and Sports to start its work, as well as approving the Procedure for the use of funds from the national budget by the fund, the presidential press service said.
"The President’s Fund was established in 2019 with the aim of encouraging the development of talented youth, improving the quality of education and science, and educating healthy citizens. In June 2021, Volodymyr Zelensky approved the Regulation on the Fund’s Council, restarting its activities," the office said in the statement.
It notes that, first of all, the Fund will start paying prizes in the amount of UAH 100,000 to the winners of international Olympiads. The payment of presidential scholarships in the amount of UAH 10,000 will start to participants in the external independent assessment, who got great results. The scholarships will be paid monthly throughout the year.
It is also planned to fund the awards to encourage the achievements of Ukrainian athletes, to attract young people to participate in sports and to support coaching.
"The activities of the Fund provide for the possibility of providing grants for training in foreign educational institutions for the preparation of masters and PhD. This will allow talented representatives of youth and the scientific community to receive competitive education," the President’s Office said.
It is specified that the official launch of the President’s Fund will take place at a solemn meeting of the Fund’s Council with the participation of the state leadership, during which the winners of international Olympiads will be awarded.
