Budget spending on COVID-19 in Jan-Oct come to UAH 31 bln out of planned UAH 41.5 bln/year – Finance Ministry
KYIV. Nov 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – State budget expenditures on combating COVID-19 for January-October 2021 amounted to UAH 31 billion out of UAH 41.5 billion planned for the entire year, the Ministry of Finance reported.
"For the ten months of 2021, spending on combating COVID-19 was used in the amount of UAH 31 billion," the ministry’s website said.
At the same time, UAH 14.6 billion was spent on payment for emergency and inpatient medical care provided to patients with COVID-19, and on the purchase of vaccines – UAH 9.8 billion.
"In general, UAH 20.2 billion was allocated for the treatment of COVID-19 patients and vaccination services under the medical guarantees program in 2021, and UAH 10.5 billion from the state budget was allocated for the purchase of vaccines. Ukraine also received an additional 8 million doses of vaccines from international partners," the ministry said.
According to the report, in January-October payments to institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for hospitalization of COVID-19 patients came to UAH 14 million out of the stipulated UAH 55 million, for providing hospitals with oxygen, express tests and consumables for testing – UAH 600 million of the stipulated UAH 1.4 billion.
The ministry stressed that the changes in the state budget for 2021 provide for another UAH 800 million for these purposes.
The Ministry of Finance also indicated that the state budget spending on the fight against COVID-19 for the ten months also includes UAH 2.9 billion for social support of the population under quarantine conditions, UAH 800 million – for sick leave payments, UAH 1.5 billion – for payments on partial unemployment (with a plan of UAH 1.6 billion).
At the same time, the costs of combating COVID-19 in educational institutions amounted to UAH 18.3 million, with UAH 1 billion envisaged for this purpose, the Ministry of Finance emphasized.
