Borrell backs call for ZNPP demilitarization, Russia must immediately return control to Ukraine
BRUSSELS. Aug 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell supported the call for the demilitarization of the territory of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP) and called on Russia to immediately return full control to Ukraine.
Borrell published the corresponding position on Friday on his Twitter page.
"Zaporizhia facility must not be used as part of any military operation. I support call for demilitarization of area starting with full withdrawal of Russian forces, and urge the IAEA to visit," he said.
"Russia must immediately hand back full control to rightful sovereign owner Ukraine," Borrell said.
