Border Guard Service to work in full communication with military in assessing risks and threats of tactical flight exercises of Belarus and Russia – Monastyrsky
KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian border guards will work in an enhanced mode in full communication with the Ukrainian military when assessing the risks and threats of the tactical flight exercises of Belarus and Russia, which will begin on January 16, said Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrsky.
"Currently, everyone has been placed on high alert. This will be carried out during these exercises. I have already given all the relevant orders and held a special meeting at the border on the eve of the New Year, preparing for this," the minister told Interfax-Ukraine, answering the question of whether there are any additional threats in connection with the upcoming tactical flight exercises of Belarus and Russia and whether the State Border Guard Service is ready for reflection of possible danger.
He also stressed that the Ukrainian military is also conducting its own preparatory activities.
"We don’t see a direct military threat from there yet. This is confirmed by our intelligence, but of course we understand that the border guards will be reinforced for this period, being there, and we have full communication with the military, who also jointly assess all risks," Monastyrsky stressed.
