Blinken: Today we’ve taken measures against those who finance Russia's war against Ukraine
KYIV. Sept 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that sanctions were imposed on Thursday against those who finance and conduct the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
“We took action today against those who fund, supply, and carry out Russia’s unprovoked war on Ukraine. We targeted Russia’s defense-industrial base and abusers of human rights. We’re increasing the cost on President Putin for his war on Ukraine,” Blinken said on Twitter Thursday evening.
Also, the State Secretary said that “the State Department designated, among others, five Russian proxy officials who have overseen the seizure or theft of hundreds of thousands of tons of Ukrainian grain, exacerbating food insecurity around the globe.”
As reported, on Thursday, the U.S. Treasury added to the sanctions lists for Russia head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Maxim Oreshkin and dozens of other individuals and legal entities from the Russian Federation, as well as collaborators – head of the administration of the occupied part of Zaporizhia region Yevhen Balytsky and a member of the administration Vladimir Rogov.
