Blinken, Michel discuss Russian military buildup around Ukraine
WASHINGTON. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel on Wednesday on Wednesday, during which they indicated that Russia should reduce tensions on the border with Ukraine, the Department of State has said.
" They shared concerns about Russia’s military build-up around Ukraine and emphasized the need for Russia to de-escalate and return to diplomacy, including full implementation of the Minsk agreements, which are the best means to resolve the conflict in the Donbas," State Department Press Secretary Ned Price said.
It emphasizes that Blinken and Michel during the conversation agreed on the need to impose "swift and severe" costs on Russia if "it escalates its aggression in Ukraine."
