Blinken, Cavusoglu discuss ways to promote dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia, supply of Ukrainian grain

KYIV. Sept 20 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in New York, the situation in the South Caucasus, Ukrainian grain supplies and NATO unity were discussed, the U.S. State Department reported on Tuesday.

“Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in New York City. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Cavusoglu discussed tensions in the South Caucasus, and the Secretary noted that the United States continues to engage to facilitate dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia and help achieve a long-term political settlement to the conflict,” a statement published on the website of the State Department reads.

Blinken also praised Turkey’s diplomatic efforts to ensure the supply of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea and noted the importance of maintaining the agreements concluded through the mediation of the UN.

The ministers, as noted by the U.S. State Department, discussed ways to improve the coordination and unity of NATO.
