Biden was probably tough on phone with Putin, but that won't end current crisis – Former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine
KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S President Joseph Biden was probably tough in his telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, but that will not end the current crisis, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine in 2003-2006 John Herbst said.
"I think Biden was probably tough on the phone and will be tough in the future, but I don’t think it will end this current crisis. Biden was tough in Geneva regarding cyberspace, and Putin continues to make cyber attacks even after Geneva," Herbst said during a discussion at the Kyiv Security Forum on Tuesday.
According to him, after Geneva, Biden was tough in a telephone conversation with Putin regarding cyberspace, and Russian cyber operations stopped for six-eight weeks, but then resumed again.
"And even worse, we later released a well-known Russian cybercriminal, whose extradition to the U.S. took us years," Herbst said.
