Biden-Putin talks testify to loss of Ukraine's 'subject' status – MP Friz
KYIV. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The talks between the Presidents of the United States and the Russian Federation, Joseph Biden and Vladimir Putin, testify to the loss of Ukraine’s status as a subject," Iryna Friz, MP from the European Solidarity faction, has said.
"Unfortunately, these negotiations for the first time since the beginning of the war indicate the loss of Ukraine’s ‘subjectivity.’ Ukraine is spoken about without Ukraine," Friz said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
At the same time, the deputy predicts that Putin will not de-escalate, since the Kremlin does not see an independent state in Ukraine. "Moreover, Putin is seeking to return Ukraine to his protectorate," she added.
Friz is confident that, as a result of the talks, "there is no point in expecting steps to reset Washington’s relations with the Kremlin, because Putin is not going to conduct a dialogue – he seeks to impose conditions and issue ultimatums."
According to her, the Russian Federation continues to test the weaknesses of its partners and determine further tactical actions for itself.
"At the same time, the U.S. President has a clear understanding of all of Putin’s intentions and must demonstrate an adequate position to counter the aggressor," she said.
