Belavia to stop allowing Afghan citizens to board flights from Turkey to Belarus
MINSK. Nov 17 (Interfax) – Citizens of Afghanistan will not be allowed to board Belavia flights heading from Turkey to Belarus, the Belarusian air carrier said in a statement on its website.
Belavia said earlier that it had suspended transportation of citizens of Iraq, Syria, and Yemen departing from Turkey.
The measure has been taken "in accordance with the decision adopted by the relevant Turkish authorities," the Belarusian airline said.
"Passengers of the Belavia airline subject to this ban are eligible for a full refund for their tickets at place of purchase," the air carrier said.
Belavia said earlier that it had halted transportation of citizens of Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Afghanistan departing from Dubai.
Belavia "has never aided or abetted the transportation of illegal migrants to the Republic of Belarus and for many years has not operated regular or charter flights to Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, and Syria," it said.
Turkey said last Friday that it was no longer selling flights to citizens of Iraq, Syria, and Yemen traveling to Belarus.
The Syrian air carrier Cham Wings said last weekend that it had suspended flights from Damascus to Minsk in response to the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.
