Belarusian troops practicing missile strikes during preparedness check

MINSK. April 4 (Interfax) – The Belarusian Armed Forces are practicing artillery and missile strikes during a preparedness check, the Belarusian Defense Ministry’s press service said on Tuesday.

“Military units and detachments of missile and artillery forces of the Northwestern Operative Command of the Belarusian Armed Forces are training at the Osipovichi range,” the press service said.

“The troops are practicing reconnaissance, target detection and strikes. They are using unmanned aerial vehicles in tandem with artillery,” it said.

The ministry said earlier that military registration and enlistment offices had started actively admitting people liable for military service in the course of the check.

The ministry announced the start of the combat preparedness check on Monday.

“This is a comprehensive process to assess the ability of commanders to control subordinated military units and detachments on high alert, alongside the readiness of military units to accomplish their missions on time,” the ministry said.

The State Secretariat of the Belarusian Security Council is overseeing the check.

The check involves redeployment of military hardware and possible temporary restrictions on civilian motor traffic on public roads and in certain areas.
