Belarusian Defense Ministry reports on build-up of air defense forces, patrols of air border with Russia

MINSK. Nov 25 (Interfax) – Belarus has decided to enhance its standby air defense forces and organize air patrols of its border with Russia, citing an increase in the intensity of flights near the country’s borders, the Belarusian Defense Ministry said.

"Due to increasing cases in which various types of aviation fly near the state border of the Republic of Belarus, in order to prevent violations of the state border in the airspace, a decision has been made to enhance the strength of the standby air defense forces and for the Air Force and the Air Defense Force of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation to jointly patrol the state border in the air," the Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
