Belarus authorizes deportation of 1,500 foreigners since Sept
MINSK. Nov 17 (Interfax) – The deportation of 1,500 foreigners from Belarus has been authorized since September 2021 over violations of migration laws, Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov said in a statement published by the ONT channel on Telegram on Tuesday.
"As the influx of foreign citizens in the Republic of Belarus has been on the rise, the police are working to preserve public peace in the city of Minsk and throughout the territory of Belarus. As many as 8,000 foreign citizens have arrived through international checkpoints since September 1. Meanwhile, administrative charges of a breach of migration laws have been brought against 1,500 foreign citizens. A decision to deport such persons has been made," Kubrakov said.
The migrant situation is under control, he said.
"There are no problems with the presence of foreign citizens in our territory. The situation is under control. There are enough forces and hardware to ensure public peace in the city of Minsk and in cities on the border," the minister said.
