Beer production in Ukraine decreases by more than 28% for 11 months
KYIV. Dec 14 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Beer production in Ukraine (except non-alcoholic with an alcohol content of up to 0.5%) in January-November 2022 decreased by 28.1% compared to the same period in 2021, to 113.2 million decalitres, according to the website of Ukrpyvo.
At the same time, it is indicated that the industry is gradually recovering after a 50% drop in production in the first quarter due to the Russian invasion and the shutdown of some of the country’s breweries. Thus, according to the results of the first four months of this year, the fall was 42.8% compared to the same period last year, January-May – 36.4%, January-June – 32%, January-July and January-August – 31.6% each, January-September – 30.5%, and January-October – 28.6%.
According to Ukrpyvo, there is also a recovery in malt production. In particular, after a fall in the first quarter of 2022 by 40.8% and a sharp decline in June by 50.6%, in January-November the rate of decline in production slowed down to 19.9% compared to the comparable period in 2021 – 156,400 tonnes of malt were produced.
