Authorities ignore challenges, producing fake laws instead, looking for 'loyal' personnel – Rudyk
KYIV. Oct 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The current government produces fake laws and attempts to change the speaker of parliament for a more "loyal" one instead of more active countering the coronavirus pandemic and preparing for the heating season amid record high prices for natural gas, leader of the Holos party Kira Rudyk said.
"The President promises us that the tariffs [for gas] for the population will not increase and will be fixed at the level of UAH 7,800 per 1,000 cubic meters. But budgetary institutions (schools, hospitals, libraries) pay UAH 33,000. Industry will pay even more. What does this mean in practice? That price fixing for the population will not allow people to save. After all, an increase in the costs of industry and business as a whole will lead to inflation and an increase in prices for all goods and services that are important to people. That is why gas for $1,200 will hit everyone," the MP said.
She said that another important problem is that citizens have already suffered from the coronavirus crisis due to the lack of understanding by the authorities of the mechanisms to support the economy, even though for vaccinated Ukrainians there will really be "fewer problems" with an opportunity to work in lockdown.
"The latest news proves that there is no ‘responsible policy’ for the ruling team and its allies. There are only their own interests and the interests of their oligarchic environment. But we need to act and fight for the country to receive the necessary solutions for development, and the Ukrainians – an opportunity to do their job and earn money," Rudyk said.
She also said that the Holos proposes to adopt a bill already registered by Rudyk herself, which proposes to allocate UAH 10 billion in the budget for next year to support entrepreneurs.
"This law must be voted on immediately and help people do business in difficult times," the MP said.
Rudyk also noted that the Holos proposes to focus in the budget on projects for house insulation, installation of heat meters and other energy saving measures, as well as to deprive the oligarchs of control in state-owned enterprises, in the market of housing and communal services, to deprive them of tax incentives and introduce adequate rental taxes for the extraction of ore and other minerals.
