Auchan Ukraine asks French office for clarification regarding likely assistance to aggressor's army

KYIV. Feb 17 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Auchan Ukraine has applied to the Auchan head office located in France for clarification regarding the likely provision of assistance to the aggressor army, which is reported in an investigation by Bellingat, The Insider and Le Monde.

“We are shocked by the information published in a journalistic investigation about the assistance to the army of the aggressor country. We urgently contacted the office in France. They deny this information. We are waiting for official communication,” the retailer said in a press release.

Earlier, the French edition of Le Monde published a material that reported on the supply of humanitarian aid from the Russian Auchan chain to the Russian occupiers.

Auchan Retail is an international retail company. The first store opened in France in 1961.

Auchan Ukraine Hypermarket LLC has been operating in Ukraine since 2008. According to the Auchan website, before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the retailer’s chain consisted of more than 30 stores of various formats (hypermarkets, supermarkets, and pick up points) in nine cities, and is also developing e-commerce. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Auchan Ukraine has donated UAH 49 million in aid, about 352 tonnes of goods, and distributed 238,000 meals to the Ukrainian army, territorial defense, the State Emergency Service, hospitals, orphanages and charitable foundations.
