Auchan opens ninth pick-up point store

KYIV. Oct 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The French retailer Auchan has opened the ninth pick-up point store in the Rybalsky residential complex, the retailer’s press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

"In the pick-up point format, we have combined a traditional convenience store with an online order pick-up point. Over the year we tested this format in Kyiv, and it proved to be excellent. In this difficult time, when customers often stay at home, we provide an opportunity to buy safely necessary products," head of the new concepts department Serhiy Fedorovichev said.

According to him, in a relatively small store area, 125 sq m, we placed more than 2,000 items of goods, 20% of which are of own production.

"The emphasis is on the fact that mainly residents of neighboring houses will come here. Hence, a line of goods for home decor, children’s toys, goods for animals. We also added a wide range of healthy food and fast food," he said.

He noted that now Auchan focuses precisely on opening small shops in the immediate vicinity of the house. The tenth store of this format will open next week. Two pick up point options are being developed: Street – a healthy snack in the street, located in crowded places, a stake on fast and healthy food. Residence is a convenience store with a wider assortment. All options have coffee and hot dogs, parcel machines, coffee break areas.

Auchan Retail is an international retail company, the first store opened in France in 1961.

Auchan Retail Ukraine has been operating in Ukraine since 2008. According to the Auchan website, it has 24 stores of various formats (hypermarkets, supermarkets and convenience stores) in nine cities, and also develops e-commerce.
