At least four major U.S. allies in NATO to discuss with Moscow its fears related to alliance – media
WASHINGTON. Dec 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. President Joe Biden expects to be able to report further U.S. contacts with Russia by December 10, the U.S. media said on Wednesday.
"We hoped to be able to announce the meetings [with Russia] by Friday," the media said, citing Biden.
Several NATO member states will also take part in these meetings, Biden said.
"At least four of our major NATO allies and Russia to discuss the future of Russia’s concerns relative to NATO writ large and […] bringing down the temperature along the Eastern Front," the U.S. president said.
The day before, the White House said that Biden did not make concessions during a conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on NATO’s eastward expansion. At the same time, the U.S. administration said they are ready to discuss issues of concern with Russia.
For its part, the Kremlin said that Putin, in a conversation with his American counterpart, declared that Russia was seriously interested in firm, legally binding guarantees that would rule out NATO eastward expansion.
