At first mobilization stage, Russia likely to complete formations, military units involved in hostilities in Ukraine – AFU General Staff

KYIV. Sept 23 (Interfax-Ukraine) – At the first stage of mobilization, the Russian Federation is likely to complete the formations and military units involved in combat operations in Ukraine, according to Oleksiy Hromov, Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"At the first stage, probably within a month or a month and a half, the enemy plans to fully staff its formations and military units involved in combat operations on the territory of Ukraine. It is also possible that part of the forces will be used to staff the units of the border service of the enemy’s Federal Security Service to release the personnel of the armed forces involved in covering the state border with our country," Hromov said at a briefing at the Military Media Center on Friday.

According to him, the largest part of the mobilized will be sergeants and privates, as well as junior officers. Hromov explained that this is the category that suffered the most losses.

"In the future, it is not excluded that during the second stage the enemy will continue to carry out its mobilization measures, an appropriate number of combined arms formations of the operational and tactical level, as well as an appropriate set of missile and artillery units will be created. At the same time, we understand that the enemy currently does not have specialists in scarce specialties, and their training will take a long time. Therefore, first of all, the enemy focused its attention on the formation of combined arms units, units of missile forces and artillery," he said.

Hromov assured that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are ready for any development of events.

"According to our intelligence, the Kremlin’s haste is a consequence of the growth of a number of internal and external threats to the Putin regime, primarily the inability of the current Russian government to achieve the announced goals of a special military operation, this is the growing support for Ukraine by Western countries and the preservation of our state’s course towards joining NATO, also the aggravation of socio-economic problems in Russia and the strengthening of sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation," he said.
