Arakhamia: Ukraine will prevail in negotiations with Russia
KYIV. Aug 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Leader of the Servant of the People faction, head of the Ukrainian delegation to the negotiations with the Russian Federation, David Arakhamia, is confident that Ukraine will win in negotiations with the aggressor.
"At the first stage [of negotiations] we definitely won, even they admit it. Now we have the second stage. We’re on pause right now. Why are we on pause? Because it depends entirely, directly on the success of our Armed Forces. As soon as there are successes, I think we will win the second stage," Arakhamia said in an interview with the national telethon broadcast on Wednesday.
Answering the question whether the representatives of the Russian Federation have a desire to continue negotiations, the leader of the faction said that "they are slowly sounding out the situation," separate signals when asked whether the Ukrainian side is ready for negotiations or not. According to Arakhamia, there are now more such signals than there were a month or two ago.
"I associate this with the fact that our Armed Forces are showing good success and with the fact that some events are beginning to take place in Crimea. They see that they still do not have the opportunity to occupy Kherson and Zaporizhia regions normally, as they did in Donbas. They see that people refuse to cooperate with the [occupation] authorities … And they understand that there are a lot of problems with this and they want to find … a moment for the negotiating position to be stronger," the MP said.
