Appearance of Hungarian PM Orban in scarf depicting Hungary with part of Ukrainian territory doesn’t contribute to development of good–neighborly relations – MFA
KYIV. Nov 22 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The appearance of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in a scarf depicting Hungary with part of the Ukrainian territory does not contribute to the development of good-neighborly relations between Kyiv and Budapest, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Oleh Nikolenko said.
"On November 22, Hungarian Ambassador to Ukraine Istvan Íjgyártó was invited to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to whom it was pointed out that the public appearance of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in a scarf depicting Hungary with part of Ukrainian territory was unacceptable," the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
According to him, the attention of the Hungarian diplomat was drawn to the fact that such actions do not contribute to the development of good-neighborly relations between Ukraine and Hungary.
"It is noted that Ukraine expects an apology for this incident and hopes that in the future the Hungarian side will refrain from steps that can be regarded as disrespect for the territorial integrity of our state," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson summed up.
