Allegations about Ukraine's request to not include Belarus on EU's latest sanctions lists not true – MFA

KYIV. Jan 12 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Reports by some media about Ukraine’s alleged request not to include Belarus in the latest packages of EU sanctions are not true, Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko has said.

"Let me remind you that for supporting the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, a number of personal (the Lukashenko regime, the military command, propagandists, 25 state agencies and companies of the Belarusian military-industrial complex, including the Defense Ministry and the State Security Committee, as well as eight Belarusian companies) and sectoral sanctions (the central bank and four other Belarusian banks, a ban on the supply of dual-use goods, services, deposits, euros, fertilizers, as well as a ban on the activities of freight operators) were imposed," he said on Facebook on Thursday.

The Foreign Ministry is also aware of the discussion between EU member states on the issue of further synchronization of sanctions imposed on Russia.

"At the same time, according to our information, there is no consensus within the European Union yet. Ukraine and partners are now actively working to maximize the content of the tenth package of EU sanctions, the adoption of which is long overdue," Nikolenko said.
