All Russian war crimes, crimes against humanity must be investigated – Dutch FM

KYIV. March 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Russia must be held accountable for all crimes committed against Ukraine, Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra has said.

“Today we talked about bringing to justice, without which a lasting peace is impossible. For everything that the Russian Federation has done on the territory of Ukraine, on Ukrainian soil, of course, it must be held accountable. All war crimes of the Russian Federation and crimes against humanity must be investigated and subjected to judicial prosecution. The Netherlands supports these efforts. The Netherlands sent teams to investigate these crimes,” Hoekstra said at a joint briefing with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Estonian Foreign Minister Urmas Reinsalu in Lviv.

He stressed that the Netherlands, together with partners, would investigate all Russian crimes, and special attention will be paid to the deportation of Ukrainian children.

Hoekstra recalled that recently an event was held at the UN Headquarters with the participation of 45 countries on gross violations of human rights caused by aggression of the Russian Federation, where Kuleba called on the international community to join efforts to return Ukrainian children deported to the Russian Federation.

“We will do everything necessary to ensure that the law and law work even during the war,” he said. The minister stressed that the Netherlands would support Ukraine in everything, in particular in matters of armament, restoration and bringing the Russian Federation to justice for crimes in Ukraine. In addition, he reiterated that the Netherlands would stay with Ukraine in the struggle for freedom, independence and a just peace.
