Agent of special services of Belarus turns out to be one of alleged mercenaries of Wagner PMC – Rada Investigative Commission
KYIV. Sept 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – One of the 33 alleged mercenaries of Wagner’s PMC was an agent of the special services of the Republic of Belarus, said head of the Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada on the investigation of possible illegal actions of representatives of state authorities and other persons against the sovereignty of Ukraine Maryana Bezuhla (Servant of the People faction).
"According to preliminary conclusions, and this will be indicated in the report [on the work of the Investigation Commission], no conclusions were drawn about the risks of moving [of alleged mercenaries] to the territory of Belarus. In addition, such a displacement took place without hindrance, that is, we received the fact that the Russian Federation released 32 people without hindrance (and I will explain why), and Belarus also freely gave them the opportunity to enter its territory. Then we already have data that the 33rd was a Belarusian agent. That is, there was already a person in the group working for the special service of Belarus and controlling the situation," Bezuhla said at a briefing on Friday.
In addition, according to her, the commission’s data indicate that there was also "an additional informant for Belarus" among Wagner members.
"Russia is already at the stage of documentation [2014-2018], and Belarus – at least at the stage of the formation of this group [the alleged mercenaries of Wagner PMC] … It’s good that our special services have concluded that something went wrong, and accordingly, decided to postpone the flight to Istanbul … In fact, they were detained at the end," added Bezuhla.
At the same time, she clarified that they were all citizens of the Russian Federation, which did not prevent them from simultaneously having citizenship of other countries, in particular – there were eight citizens of Ukraine in this group. At the same time, according to the temporary commission of inquiry, 28 out of 33 detainees are participants in hostilities in the east of Ukraine.
