About 200 Ukrainians ask for evacuation from Afghanistan – Kuleba
KYIV. Sept 1 (Interfax-Ukraine) – As of Tuesday, another 200 Ukrainians ask to evacuate them from Afghanistan, but the situation with the number of people willing is constantly changing, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
"Because someone, for example, did not declared his will for two weeks, and then showed up. And someone declared, and then flew on another plane, because there was such an opportunity. Therefore, this figure fluctuates, but no one will be abandoned to their fate" the minister is quoted by the hromadske edition.
He said that there are people in Afghanistan, including children and women, for whom leaving now is an opportunity to avoid the threat to their lives and safety.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported that it would continue the evacuation from Afghanistan after August 31. At the same time, the authorities may adjust the routes of return of citizens depending on the development of the situation at Kabul airport.
According to head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak, more than 600 people have already been evacuated from Afghanistan by Ukrainian planes.
