About 15 out of 450 companies voluntarily lose their Diia.City resident status over one year – Deputy Minister
KYIV. Feb 24 (Interfax-Ukraine) – About 15 companies with a total number of residents of about 450 have voluntarily renounced the status of a resident of a special legal regime for IT in Diia.City during a year since its launch, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation for IT Development Oleksandr Borniakov said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
“Of course, there are companies that have lost their status of their own free will. There are about 15 such companies. The reasons are different: someone froze the company’s activity in connection with the war, it is more profitable for someone to work on a preferential tax of 2% of turnover,” Borniakov said.
The Deputy Minister said that leaving Diia.City is as easy as becoming a resident. “Companies are free to decide in which tax system their work is more profitable and efficient,” Borniakov said.
According to him, among the 450 residents of Diia.City, half are companies from the top 50 rating of the largest companies in the sector, and the total number of residents’ employees is about 36,000 people.
Borniakov said that before the war there were plans to attract 500-800 companies to Diia.City in the first year of operation. “Now, we are only approaching this indicator. But we have a certain dynamics: several new companies join every week, and we have 10+ companies monthly. We understand why it is so, since they solve security issues, issues with customers every day. They have many challenges that were not there before the war,” he said.
At the same time, he said that after the start of the war, the dynamics of growth in the number of people wishing to become residents slowed down, but in the middle of last year, especially in August-September, there was a surge in activity – to 20 applications per week.
“The picture fully reflected the events at the front: when there was a counteroffensive – activity from companies grew noticeably, when the Russians began to destroy the energy infrastructure – the number of applications immediately fell. After some time, when the business had generators, Starlink erminals, those who want to apply reappeared,” Borniakov said, describing the situation.
