About 10% of 'COVID' beds occupied in Ukrainian hospitals
KYIV. Nov 7 (Interfax-Ukraine) – About 10% of the beds allocated for the treatment of patients with coronavirus infection (COVID-19) are currently occupied in Ukrainian hospitals, Oleksandr Zaika, head of the national immunization program, told reporters at a briefing on Monday.
He clarified that currently the ‘COVID’ bed capacity in the country is about 40,000 units.
According to Zaika, the peak incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine is expected in January.
In turn, the head of the WHO Office in Ukraine, Jarno Habicht, said that since the beginning of the war, more than 3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been delivered to Ukraine. Free vaccination against COVID-19 is one of the first services to resume after the de-occupation of the territories.
Reportedly, due to the war, Ukraine has now refused to purchase vaccines against COVID-19 and is receiving these vaccines under the Covax mechanism and as humanitarian aid.
