Construction Specialist

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Ukraine is seeking a qualified professional for the programme “Strengthening resources for the sustainable development of host communities in Eastern Ukraine”to fill the position:

Construction Specialist (Full time, remote mode with further duty station in Dnipro)

The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ. It supports communities in the Regions Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia in improving and developing social and medical services, in particular with respect to vulnerable population groups. For that purpose, the project will coordinate and cooperate with a broad range of local/national and international partners and stakeholders. One of the field of actions of the project is rehabilitation of the social infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

Task and responsibilities are connected to the measures for rehabilitation, development and preserving of social infrastructure in partner communities.

  • Assisting the project with all organizational and management issues, incl. preparation and implementation of coordination process, joint project activities and work in the regions;
  • Supporting in identifying needs, developing concepts and strategies, and providing technical input;
  • Assisting project initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups;
  • Assisting and monitoring of the development and implementation of project plans and activities in close consultation with counterparts;
  • Supporting with the development of project documentation;
  • Supporting the development and organizing quality assurance measures and suggesting necessary changes, improvements and initiatives;
  • Participating in formulating project action plans and helping to synchronize the planning and budgeting system and counterparts;
  • Jointly responsible with the partner institution for preparing, implementing and documenting training events, workshops, forums and other project activities;
  • Cooperating and coordinating national and international experts/consultants;
  • Ensuring knowledge management within the project;
  • Preparing of appropriate input for various project reports including annual reports.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • Masters/MSc in an area that is related to the project/program objectives, with a focus on a relevant field (Engineering, Architecture, Civil Engineering or comparable);
  • At least 3 years’ professional experience in a comparable position;
  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, email, internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office 365, CAD, MS Project, Adobe Creative Suite);
  • Fluent written and oral knowledge of English, working knowledge of German would be an asset;
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.

Employment conditions:

Full-time position with 40-hours working week. Place of assignment is Kyiv. The assignment starts in March 2023 till 31.12.2023 with the option of prolongation.
